No Place Like Home

Hi there, I hope you're having a great week so far. It's quite cold up here in Scotland still but we have beautiful sunshine again today.

When I got this little Ditsy Print set by Altenew I hadn't realised that it had a quote from one of my favourite films on it, The Wizard of Oz.

As you've probably noticed from my last posts, I've been wanting to create something CAS (clean and simple). I chose to use this little set for it. Firstly, I stamped the Ditsy Print flowers onto some watercolour cardstock. I then coloured the image using my Zig Clean Colour Real Brush Markers. I wanted to use red (like the shoes in the film!) and turquoise as the main colours and then went with a bit of yellow as a nod to the yellow brick road.

I absolutely love this little set. I love how you can choose to colour it in where you have the outline stamp, or you can layer it using inks to create a completely different look. I'm sure you'll be seeing more of this set sometime soon.

I watched a great video by Amber Rain Davis on YouTube where she shared how to do pencil shading around your images, so I thought I would have a play and see if it would work with my little stamped flowers. I was really pleased at my first attempt and loved messing around with a graphite pencil. It was like being a child again haha.

Amber created such great dimension with her card. Here are her before and after images. What a difference the shading makes. Isn't it fab?! I'm definitely going to do more of this technique in the future.

Once I'd coloured the image, I decided to use my Altenew Classy Stripes Stencil with black ink to create the 'Dorothy' stripey tights. I cut the panel out using my MFT Wonky Stax Dienamic Squares.

While I was making the card I was listening to my Robbie Williams Swing When You're Winning playlist on Spotify and I was in the kitchen humming and realised that I'd been listening to the song, 'If I only had a brain'. Spooky!

Anyhoo, I'm entering this card into two challenges:

Tic Tac Toe (using the right-hand column of embellishments, colouring and stencil, and Simon Says Stamp's Clean and Simple Challenge.

Hope you like the card. Thanks for popping by!
