Happy Mother's Day

I wanted to make a Mother's Day card and found a colour challenge over at Color Throwdown.

Here's my card:

And here's the Color Throwdown colour palette.

I have to say I wasn't sure about how the rust would work with what I planned, but I am quite pleased with how it turned out. It's quite dark here now so the photo is quite dark sadly and it doesn't show it off to its full effect.

I started by die cutting the white panel out of Lawn Fawn's Quilted Backdrop with some Hero Arts dove white cardstock before attaching it to a cerise pink card base. I was considering going with all white but thought the peek of colour showing through would add more interest.

I then die cut the Stamp Market Florally Fun dies in the two pinks and rust coloured cardstock and layered them up. To create some dimension on the flower I curled each petal over my finger to shape them. I then added a gold 'star' using Lawn Fawn's Gold Metallic Cardstock. I die cut some leaves in the turquoise and attached these behind the flower.

I also cut a very thin strip of gold cardstock and added it to the panel. I love this Lawn Fawn cardstock, it's so smooth and it's really lovely to work with.

I didn't have a fancy Mother's Day stamp so I created one in Pages and just printed it onto a piece of white cardstock and die cut it using a banner die. I layered that onto a larger pink banner. Sadly, I can't remember which brand the banner set is from as I've had it for a while. I then layered the sentiment onto a piece of pink cardstock to match the rest of the card.

To finish, I pop dotted the main panel onto a 5 x 7 card.

Here's a list of the supplies that I used:

Thanks for popping by!
